In a previous article I tried to point out the dangers of doing your own research, which was essentially a plea for intellectual humility and trusting experts. Scientific research these days is highly specialized, with each subfield having its own nomenclature, methodologies, statistical analyses, etc. Experts have the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to evaluate the quality of evidence provided by any particular study, and importantly, do your research paper, to put it into context with the larger body of literature, do your research paper.
